Sand-Castle-firemen-2015

MBACD will be exhibiting sculptures created by Wirt-Emerson students in a week long workshop facilitated by Calumet Artist Residency, where students will create sand molds using local sand that will then be positively cast by pouring molten iron into the molds. Iron will be salvaged from scrap yards to introduce an element of recycling. This process resembles the process used in local steel mills and the workshop combines disciplines and incorporates lessons in math, science, and art.

Here\'s a few recently custom painted pieces by Jennifer at Beach Art Studios. Have a piece of furniture that needs a facelift? Let\'s talk! 219-200-4286

The Miller Beach Arts & Creative District was inducted into The Society of Innovators of Northwest Indiana last night, for our efforts of using art as a catalyst in the regeneration of our community with the hope to improve the local economy, attracting new investments and businesses, providing unique educational and entertainment opportunities, and improving the livability of the neighborhood. Since the district’s inception in 2011, 14 new businesses have opened, property values have increased, and the quality of life has improved. \"The MBACD is creating a dynamic hub of creative cultural and economic development as a vital part of Gary\", said nominator O’Merrial Butchee. There were lots of great initiatives started by some awesome people in the room. We are honored to be amongst them. Thanks to our spectacular team of volunteers, collaborators and supporters for making it all happen!
