"If These Walls Could Tell" Storytelling Event

Like a good story? Even better, like a good story about a beautiful historic place? Then you won't want to miss the upcoming "If These Walls Could Tell" storytelling event on September 24, presenting the tale of Gary's Marquette Park -- winner of the 2014 Cook Cup for Outstanding Restoration. 6:30 p.m. at the Marshall J. Gardner Center for the Arts in Miller Beach.

Centerline 2016 group exhibition @ Zhou B Art Center, Chicago
The Zhou B Art Center opens Exhibitions every 3rd Friday of the month with an evening reception from 7pm-10pm. These events are free of charge and provide the community of Bridgeport and the Chicago area a unique opportunity to explore a blend of international and local art. The artists-in-residence at the Art Center open their studios to visitors, making this a unique opportunity for the community to meet working artists and discuss their work in person. The variety of the work produced by the artists-in-residence and the four in-house gallery spaces makes the Zhou B Art Center 3rd Friday Exhibitions one of the most diverse art experiences in the city.
Save the Tunes - Music Heritage Series - Songs From 1916
Tune up your vocal chords and join in with the Save the Tunes Council as they perform traditional music associated with the summer season. Gather up on Friday from 7:30 pm –9:00 pm at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore Visitor Center. The Save the Tunes Council is a group of local musicians devoted to preserving and passing on folk songs in the traditional way, using a variety of musical instruments including guitar, autoharp, dulcimer, banjo, harmonica, bagpipe, penny whistle, hurdy gurdy, and other obscure instruments. Meet at the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center located at 1215 N. State Road 49 just south of the intersection of 49 and U.S. 20 in Porter, Indiana.
